Vietnam customs Online reported on September 8th that despite the difficulties faced by COVID-19 in the past few months, according to the import and Export Bureau of Vietnam’s Ministry of industry and trade, exports of timber and wood products amounted to US $10 billion 430 million in the first 8 months of this year, an increase of 41.9% over the same period last year. Among them, wood products reached US $8.03 billion, a year-on-year increase of 46.7%.
It is worth mentioning that since this year, Vietnam’s export of indoor wood products to the U.S. market has increased impressively.
According to the statistics of the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), the import volume of indoor wood products in the United States reached US $12.4 billion in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 64.6%.
Vietnam was the largest supplier of indoor wood products in the United States in the first half of this year, with an export volume of US $4.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 81.9%.
The rapid growth of indoor wood products imported by the United States from Vietnam shows that Vietnamese products have met the needs of American consumers. However, the rapid growth of the U.S. market also makes the wood industry face many potential risks, such as trade protection measures.
