Peru’s export of wood products has declined in 2020
In 2020, the offshore value of Peru’s semi-finished wood products exports totaled US $55.4 million, a year-on-year decrease of 31%.
Previously, the main market for wood products was China, accounting for more than half of all wood products. However, by 2020, exports to China will drop by 36%. In 2020, the second most important market for semi manufactured goods is France, accounting for 15% of exports, but like China, exports to France in 2020 are down by a third year-on-year. Denmark is the third largest export market, accounting for nearly 9% of total exports. In 2020, exports increased by about 7% compared with the same period last year.
The export of wooden furniture goes against the trend
Peru’s export of furniture and furniture parts in 2020 is US $3.8 million, only 3% lower than that in 2019. The main market is the United States, accounting for about 75% of exports, followed by Italy, accounting for 9%. By 2020, the value of furniture and parts exported to these two markets will increase slightly. Peruvian furniture manufacturers have to deal with many interruptions throughout the year, and most of them have much lower actual capacity than designed.
